Michigan Cottage Food Law signed July 14, 2010

Exciting news for those of us in the home baking business in Michigan!!!  Governor Jennifer Granholm signed the Michigan Cottage Food Law in to effect on July 14, 2010, making it legal to produce and sell cakes (and many other "non-potentially hazardous foods") from a domestic kitchen without the regulations enforced by the Department of Agriculture on commercial kitchens.  This is HUGE!  It means we small bakers came "come out of the closet" without having to spend our childrens college funds on either renting expensive commercial space or investing in a commercial kitchen in our homes.  Allowing us to operate legally means that we can now advertise, grow our businesses and determine it's viability as a full-time career.  I'm really excited about the adventure ahead!  Thanks Governor Granholm!

Daisy Cake for Mom!

This was for the mom of a good client and I really wanted it to be special. Pink gumpaste daisies of different shapes and sizes on the cupcakes. Originally, I was planning on making much more contemporary, simple flowers, but then I broke out the dusts, started making leaves and stayed up most of the night!

Pink Hearts Cupcake Tower

Simple pinks hearts cupcake tower for a baby naming party last weekend.  It was in one of the gorgeous salons and the Townsend hotel.  I wish I'd taken photos of the room because the set up was so pretty.

Christina's Cake

This was for the girlfriend of one of the designers I work with at my day job. The words are something they like to say to one another and I thought it was kind of cute. Based on a Duff cake. Slighty wonky, hand painted with hand cut Willy Wonka font letters.
